Classification of Packaging Automation

According to the shape of the package, packaging automation can be divided into two categories: liquid packaging automation and solid packaging automation.

 

Automation of Liquid Packaging

It includes packaging automation of liquid substances with certain viscosity in beverages, liquid condiments, daily chemicals and pharmaceuticals. The packaging of this kind of products mostly adopts container filling method, which requires several main processes such as container cleaning (or container manufacturing), metering filling, sealing and labeling. For example, the automatic beer packaging production line is arranged by five main machines, namely bottle washing, filling, capping, sterilization and labeling, according to the process flow, and controlled by a single machine. In the middle, flexible conveyor chains are used to connect and coordinate the production rhythm. Because beer is a gas-containing beverage, it is filled by isobaric method and measured by liquid level method. The whole machine is of rotating type. It is controlled by mechanical transmission system and operates synchronously. The program control system is composed of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic integrated technology. The liquid level of the annular drum is automatically adjusted by closed-loop pressure sensor, the filling process is automatically controlled by mechanical open-loop control, and the failure detection is controlled by mechanical and electrical interlocking to stop automatically and eliminate manually. All lubrication, cleaning and compressed air systems are centrally operated.

 

Solid Packaging Automation

Including powder (no individual orientation requirement when packaging), granular and single-piece (orientation and posture requirement when packaging) object packaging automation. Modern advanced plastic packaging technology has been widely used. Plastic and composite packaging generally goes through several main processes, such as measurement, bagging, filling, sealing, cutting and so on. Most of the actuators are operated by mechanical transmission system, and the closed-loop program control system controls the parameters and synchronously adjusts them. Vertical multifunctional packaging machine for bag making, filling and sealing controls the movement of the correction roll up and down by means of photoelectric device to detect and identify marks, so as to ensure the accurate positioning of printing patterns on packaging materials. Horizontal thermoforming packaging machine is used for directional packaged assemblies. The centralized control and automatic control of vibration feeding, vacuum suction, far infrared heating and mechanical blanking are carried out.
